Some people use anal douches and enemas to flush out the rectum and beyond, and while that can work, it can sometimes be more trouble than it’s worth. Unless you make sure you’re thorough, it can sometimes create more of a mess than there would have been without it. For some people, it can dry out the rectum and irritate it, and if you do it too deeply too frequently, it can change the balance of your intestinal flora.

Training, lube and warmup. You can’t just jump straight into anal sex. First you have to train and work up to comfortably fitting something penis-sized. Start with a finger, add another, repeat. Get a butt plug and wear it for as long as is comfortable, slowly increasing that amount of time each time you try it. Masturbate or engage in other sex acts while wearing a butt plug or getting fingered anally. After you can comfortably do all this, then consider trying anal sex for real again. Generally, with the right diet, you won’t have to worry about being clean as long as you’ve gone to the bathroom shortly before having sex. You can also wear a butt plug for a while before, which both helps with warmup and lets you check cleanliness when removing it.

Regular enemas aren’t generally considered to be a great idea.
